Large Format Photography, Paper Making, and Cyanotyping with Annahstasia

Capturing a moment in time, life, the third dimension is one of the most persistent goals of the photography and print process. It is a dance of instilling nostalgia and romance while also accurately capturing an impalpable essence of the people or moments unfolding on the other side of the lens. In our modern times we have lost touch with the textural surprises of analog and the added dimension they bring in our new photo landscape that rarely escapes the screen.
In this class students will learn a new way of creating images and moments that Annahstasia has developed in combining her studies of paper-making, large format photography and the ease and convenience of contact prints and cyanotype.
Please note this is a 3 session course. By signing up, you are committing to all three sessions, taking place on 2/10, 2/17, and 2/24.
Session one will take place on 2/10 at 12pm sharp: we will go over the basics of operating a large format 4x5 camera, students will shoot their choice of subject during the workshop
Session two will take place on 2/17 at 12pm sharp: we will create together a simple abaca based paper and students will learn the basics of home paper making.
Session three will take place on 2/24 at 12pm sharp: together we will coat and prep our paper for cyanotypes, set up our DIY exposure unit and expose our prints.
