'The Watermelon Woman' is a semi-autobiographical experimental film that blurs the lines between narrative and documentary. In this film, Cheryl, a video-store clerk and aspiring director, delves into the overlooked history of Black actresses, sparking an investigation into the enigmatic 1930s performer known as the Watermelon Woman. As Cheryl explores this forgotten narrative, she discovers unexpected parallels with her own life.
